John Lonergan is from Cork, Ireland. He is 25 years of age and he has been dancing since the age of six.
He had an extremely successful competitive career throughout his years, winning the World Championships an impressive ten times (six Solo titles and four Céili titles) and he has won every ‘Major’ competition there is.
John has been with Riverdance for six years now, having joined when he just turned 19.
He has toured constantly with the show and  travelled to countries he never thought he would ever get to see, making lifelong friends along the way.
John was appointed the ‘Dance Captain’ role for the start of the North American Tour earlier this year, and is very grateful to have been given the opportunity which carries massive responsibility.
John is one of the original Riverdance Summer School instructors, and has taught at the schools every year since the start. It is a massive highlight for him every year to see the new upcoming talent of the next generation and to be a part of their journey to someday maybe being in Riverdance, means a great deal to him. He hopes every student makes the most of their opportunity, has fun, and most of all – enjoys every single second.
John can’t wait to get started with this year’s summer school and meet you all.
